Meet Michael.
Michael is the Co-Director and Senior Occupational Therapist of Recovery Focus.
He is an Occupational Therapist Mentor with a strong determination to make a real difference in the lives of people who struggle with mental illness.
Since completing a Bachelor of Applied Science (Occupational Therapy) in 1999 he has traveled and worked as an Occupational Therapist in Australia, and the United Kingdom, gaining clinical experience both in private and public settings across the life span.
Michael is grateful for a well-rounded Occupational Therapy career over the past 23 years. This includes 9 years in Physical OT roles and 14 years in Mental Health specific roles. With an understanding of the need in the community and a passion for training other OTs in the delivery of mental health occupational therapy, Michael set out to create an OT business with a difference. And so, Recovery Focus was established in 2017.
Fast forward 6 years, Recovery Focus is now known as a leading Mental Health Occupational Therapy business on the Central Coast, helping people improve their quality of life and achieve their best potential.
Looking ahead, Michael is determined to grow his business so more people can access the help they need to overcome the barriers that are stopping them from living the lives they dream of.
Meet Alicia.
Alicia is the Co-Director and Operations Manager. She’s the Recovery Focus systems and policy expert helping the team to create a seamless, efficient workplace (without the operations headaches).
Alicia studied a Diploma of Accounting and is in the 3rd year of her Psychology degree. Alicia has temporarily put her study on hold to dive into growing and developing Recovery Focus. Alicia is the go-to for all things business management, including, finance, HR, WH&S, business operations and marketing. She wears a lot of hats in the office, and she loves the diverse opportunity this brings.
Before Recovery Focus, Alicia worked in a variety of community service roles, including 10 years as a Case Manager. In this role, she had the opportunity to help people who were experiencing long-term unemployment to overcome the hurdles they were presented with and find a career path which met their needs. As a case manager she got to affect real change in people’s lives and now she’s taking those skills with her to Recovery Focus.
Alicia is your favourite analytics nerd. She loves systems, policy procedures, strategising, improving workflows and anything involving numbers. In her spare time, you’ll catch her reading books like Systemology, Automatic Habits and The Compound Effect. Creating processes within Recovery Focus which are seamless, efficient and cause less stress for her team is what she does best.
